At the City to Surf!

We went to the City to Surf today. Akino ran and I was the head of the support crew. Spike had to stay home and guard the house.
So, I dropped Akino off at the start line;

and made my way to the finish line;
While I was waiting for Akino, I met "Gift the Poet", who gave me a poem and asked for a donation. This is "Gift";

Gift is apparently living at the pavilion on Bondi Beach along with a group of like-minded chaps. For one reason or another they've got nowhere else to live and so they live there. The council appear to have given their tacit approval and everybody gets on with life.

Around about now, a few members of the NSW Police force arrived. They took exception to the fact that my new friends were drinking alcohol. I found this odd, because within 50 metres were a number of families enjoying the sun and having a beer. The police seemed uninterested in that and proceeded to empty out the drinks of my friends.

I took some photos (which also caused some concern amongst NSW's finest) and here they are.

It was about now that I remembered that I hadn't recharged the battery in my camera. Doh! So you will have to be content with my assurance that Akino finished the race with her usual aplomb. We think she ran the 14km in under 80 mins, which is quite a good time for such a hilly race.

The results are in...

And in news just to hand...

The Chikenz and Spike finished the Bay Run in the sensational time of 38:33 and finished 9th in the "Female Owner + Dog" section. Pretty impressive!

Stayed tuned for the city to surf next week.

Pictures from the Bay Run

These are just a couple of pictures that I took at the Bay Run that I kind of liked.

At the Bay Run

Today we went to the Bay Run. Akino and Spike ran in the "Fastest Dog in the West" competition. It's a 7km race for dog and handler. They finished in about 35-40 mins or so, which is pretty good for a little dog!
